Data Sources For Municipal And Industrial Loads 1950

Population served and facilities inventory data compiled for 1950 for raw, primary, and secondary plants by major river basins (see USPHS, 1951; pp. 31-33). BOD5 loads reported by USPHS (1951) as population equivalents (PE) for municipal and industrial sources. PE conversion factor (0.347 lb BOD5 per person per day) assigned to match estimated municipal BOD5 load (7,526 metric tons per day, mt/day) computed from unit wastewater flow (165 gpcd) and population served (91.76 million) by raw (35.26 million), primary (24.6 million), and secondary (31.89 million) wastewater treatment plants in 1950.

Data not available for Souris-Red Rainy Basin; municipal and industrial loads included in total for Missouri River-Hudson Bay Basin (see MacKichan, 1957).

Data not available for Upper and Lower Colorado; municipal and industrial loads included as total for Colorado Basin; Colorado Basin loads assigned to Upper Colorado Basin (see MacKichan, 1957).

Data not available for Rio Grande basin; Rio Grande Basin included in Western Gulf [Texas-Gulf]; data not available for Arkansas-Red-White and Texas-Gulf (see MacKichan, 1957).
