Effect of mass of clay

The adsorption of metal ions on the natural bentonite clay amount was studied on variable mass of clay from 0.25 to 10 g in constant solution volume of 50 mL with 2 h stirring time.

The effect of clay amount on metal ions removal is shown in Fig. 43.5. The result indicates that the adsorption percentage increased with the increasing amount of the bentonite clay in the two cases of clay-metal interactions. This adsorption percentage was constant at higher amounts than 2 g. The optimum metals adsorption percentages were 92.5% and 75% for Cu2+ and Ni2+, respectively.
