Total liquid transportation fuels production is 10,000 bbl/day for this plant scale. As gasifiers evolve, co-processing coal and biomass in a single unit could become the norm.

The capital cost of the CBTL-V conversion plant is estimated at $1.3 billion (TPC) or $132,000 per stream-day-barrel. The resulting fuel cost is $2.31/gge with a crude oil breakeven price of $93/bbl (Table 3.5). Due to the biomass component, the LC GHG emissions rate for the FT fuels produced is slightly lower than that for the same fuels derived from petroleum, and the LC GHG emissions ratio (FT fuels/ petrol fuels) is 1.23 when the CO2 is vented. If the CO2 is compressed, transported and geologically stored, the cost increases somewhat ($2.52/gge and $103/bbl crude oil breakeven price), but the LC GHG emissions per gallon of fuel is essentially zero (representing an essentially carbon-free liquid transportation fuel), and the ratio of LC GHG emissions for the FT fuel to the LC GHG emissions for the petroleum-based fuel is essentially zero (-0.02) (Table 3.5).
