Table 66.1 summarizes the anchor positions and their mean velocities over the observation period. At site 1 the wire to anchor P2 was disturbed by debris melting out of the ice. Measurements of the relative displacement between the lower anchor and a length of string suspended from the top anchor, however, indicate that all of the velocity of the upper anchor is accommodated within the contact between the two ice types. At site 2, the upper anchor (P3) moved faster than the lower (P2) (Table 66.1). Anchors P1 and P4 at both sites showed negligible overall motion,
