both at Russell Glacier and at other polythermal glaciers (e.g. Hambrey & Muller, 1996).
More detailed analysis of the characteristics of these time series may show how friction controls basal motion at this site. Further field studies involving intense spatial coverage using many anchors, in combination with seismic data, might allow investigation of how slip events are generated and how they propagate within the ice.
