It is only known from undisturbed forest sites, where it grows terrestrial in the undergrowth (Bos, pers. comm.). Mainly in moist forests where rainfall is around 1500-2000 mm/yr (Chi2 test). Generally in wet shady places in the forest understorey (e.g. near streams and rivers). On soils with a large water holding capacity (logistic regression analysis, Chi2 test).
