Arctic Finland

Arctic Finland includes a small proportion of both the Finnish population and the Finnish economy. Including Arctic territory has been used by both Finland and Sweden to attain specific EU advantages in relation to Arctic agriculture and regional policy. Forestry is the dominating industry. Arctic tourism, especially in relation to the Santa Claus industry, has been an important element in economic development. The small indigenous population, the Saami, living by reindeer herding, have no specific economic rights.
