Under conditions typical of urban and suburban areas where sufficient N02 is present, the production of 0(3P) from photolysis of 03 will be much less than that from NO?; in addition, since the 0(3P) reacts with 07 to regenerate 03, this leads to no net loss of ozone. As a result, the photolysis processes generating 0(3P) are not significant in tropospheric chemistry.
