Adenylate kinase (AK) has been reported to occur as a monomeric protein in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.6 The enzyme possesses a biologically important housekeeping function in the regulation of energy metabolism. Thus, it is abundant in metaboli-cally active tissues. Adenylate kinase is important to maintain adenylate nucleotide homeo-stasis in plant cells that are being subjected to various abiotic stresses. Analysis was conducted on the level of AK protein in rice seedlings under salinity stress.10
